Okay. It’s okay to not like things, right? Why can’t we criticize? I don’t mean to be rude but shutting down all input besides positive input is a bit absurd. At a convention, don’t confront someone over a bad cosplay. Ever. On the internet, afterward? Fire some pointers to them.

Ah, and your first point, about nobody being perfect? I agree with that, but what you said under that heading was a little disconnected from that topic. One of the most important parts of having a cosplay is having the right structure for the character you are doing. If you start from there to pick a character, it makes the whole process run a lot smoother. Being a really tall guy, the first cosplays I decide not to do are short characters with round faces. Cosplaying to your strengths is a vital aspect to any good cosplay, and if people would even take that one step, their costumes would be much better.

Just put effort into your choice of costume as well as the costume itself. If your cosplay is lackluster, you won’t get as much attention at a con. That should be the only downside. No one should ever shame someone in public over a costume. But after the con, criticism is a good thing as long as it isn’t mean spirited.
